About us

We are Amelia & Alex, an Australian couple who are passionate about travel and living life to the fullest.

After we married in 2018, we had a choice to make. Should we buy a house or quit our jobs and take a yearlong trip around the world? For us the answer was clear and the best decision we ever made.

We met in 2012 through mutual friends and immediately bonded over a love of travel and kebabs. Discovering a shared life philosophy: that experiences bring more happiness than things, cemented our future as a married couple and together we experienced as much of the world as possible.

By the time we were married in Sydney in 2018, we had decided to quit our jobs and travel the world for a year instead of buying a house. After years of working in corporate professions and living in one of the most expensive cities in the world, we needed to escape the rat race.

So, embracing our philosophy and our promise to live life to the fullest, we threw on our backpacks and headed to South America to begin our world trip.

That decision was the best we’ve ever made and 2019 was a year full of enriching and unforgettable travel experiences.

Therefore as lovers of photography and the written word, we created this blog to share these experiences with you.

We want to go everywhere

Our dream is to experience every place on earth at least once. But like everyone else, we have our favourites. We are often drawn to destinations where natural beauty and engaging culture, meet delicious food.

We love nature and the outdoors

The allure of wide, open landscapes, of exploring forests, mountains and lakes is impossible for us to resist. As Australians, a love of the beach is in our blood. That’s why we’re forever searching for that next pristine patch of sand and gem coloured water.

Photographing wildlife in its natural environment is an obsession

This takes us to some of the most biodiverse places on the planet. Alex is never happier than with a camera in hand capturing images of an animal in its habitat.

People are fascinating

We find immersing ourselves in a unique culture to be one of our greatest joys. Bustling cities, teeming with city-dwellers can be electrifying. Sleepy towns and villages full of friendly locals show us a glimpse of a more peaceful life.

Food is a big part of our cultural learnings

Amelia will spend hours researching that hole-in-the-wall local spot or deciding which ‘hot’ restaurant to try. We also love great wine and a large part of our travels are driven by our thirst for a great drop.

Our preference is to travel slow

We want to take it all in and get a feel for what it’s like to be a local. A road trip or a day or multi-day trek are also perfect ways to take in spectacular scenery. Unfortunately, there’s not always time to go slow and that’s ok too.

We are conscious travellers

Every dollar we spend has the power to either do good or harm to others or the environment. So we try to take that awareness and sense of responsibility everywhere we go.
